DSP Centercut is a Winamp plug-in that was developed in order to help users disseminate the stereo audio signal into side and center channels.

    Deployed through a ZIP archive, the plug-in can be set-up by copying its corresponding DLL into Winamp’s plug-ins folder. After restarting their player, users will then be able to access the plug-in by navigating to the DSP/Effect plug-in tab of the Plug-ins menu.

    The plug-in will offer users several predefined modules to choose from: Center Cut – Sides (will remove the center channel), Center Cut – Center (will maintain only the center channel), Center Cut – Sides (Bass to Sides) (will remove the center channel without altering the bass) and Center Cut – Center (Bass to Sides) (will maintain only the center channel without altering the bass).

    In addition to the four aforementioned modes, users will also benefit from a fifth extra one, which will allow them to compute the difference between the left and right channels ((L-R)/2). This last module works by employing a FFT phase analysis that, according to the developer, will induce some warbling in the output audio files.
