It can sometimes be challenging to find tunes that are pleasant enough to help your mind concentrate (or unwind), but also linear enough so they are not disruptive. Also, they don’t have to sound annoying.

    In fact, you may spend so much time trying to make the perfect playlist that you end up not doing any work or not relaxing at all. Ambient music and sounds could do the trick, but unless you already have that kind of music in your collection, you would be better off listening to the same sounds on loop over and over again. And this is where LoopDropZ comes in.

    To say that LoopDropZ’s user interface is minimalistic would be an understatement; there’s just a rectangular box labeled “DROP-ZONE” where you drop your audio files, and they instantly start looping. Because the program remembers all your loops, there’s also a drop-down menu from where you can select files that you used before. Right next to this menu is the Play/Pause button… and that’s it.

    But even though the developer wanted to keep the app “idiot-simple” (his words), there are still a few more functions you can access. For example, if you right-click the arrow of the drop-down menu, you get a context menu that lets you add loops to favorites. Or, if you press Ctrl+E, you get a loop list which you can sort.

    There are a few other functions and shortcuts that the developer details on the program’s official site. There are also a few interesting ambient sounds which you can download to start enjoying the app right away.

    Remember that LoopDropZ only works with WAV files, and it doesn’t have any file conversion or sound editing capabilities. The sounds will be looped perfectly, without any interruptions, but this will only happen if the audio files don’t have any moments of silence at the beginning or the end.

    Fortunately, there are already many ambient sample packs freely available on the internet that also come in WAV format. If you find what you need without wasting too much time, LoopDropZ could be a good relaxation tool for you. If not, you’re probably better off making that perfect playlist that we talked about in the beginning.
