  • My Talker is a simple-to-use software utility that comprises limited options for transforming text into speech. It can be handled by all types of users, even the ones with little or no experience.

    The installation procedure is rapid and does not require any special input from the user. Once it finishes, you can check out the standard window with the plain layout, representing My Talker's interface.

    You can write text in the main frame as in any other ordinary word processing tool, as well as use some basic functions, like Cut, Copy, Paste, Select All, Delete and Undo. Furthermore, it is possible to enable word wrapping mode.

    My Talker provides three animation characters for the text-to-speech conversion, namely Genie, Peedy and James. The app creates an icon for each of them in the system tray area.

    Once you click the Talk button, the selected character speaks the text you have written in the primary window, and displays it in a speech balloon. But, if you want to save the speech to a WAV file, then you have to select the Professional mode, as well as establish the output directory and file name. There are no other features or settings available through this program.

    My Talker requires a minimal amount of CPU and system memory, so it does not interfere with the runtime of other active processes. It is very responsive to commands and works smoothly, without making the OS hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. On the downside, My Talker has not been updated for a very long time, thus it is not supported by newer Windows platforms.
