  • These days, one of our favorite pastimes is using apps that can track our faces and put funny masks or filters over it. While Snapchat and many other similar smartphone applications are quite popular, you won’t find that many programs of this kind available for PCs.

    However, today we’re going to take a look at a fun and somewhat versatile application called KeroSoft WebCam Creation.

    Obviously designed for entertainment (and probably aimed at a younger audience), KeroSoft WebCam Creation actually has more functions than tracking and masking your face. The first and most basic feature is called Capture and it allows you to take snapshots and record videos with your camera. While you can use any webcam app to do this, the WebCam Creation’s ability to take pictures in burst mode is a welcome addition.

    Secondly, there’s the Masque feature, which I’ve basically described in the previous paragraphs. Unfortunately, I’m sorry to say that this is far from being a Snapchat for PC. The face tracking is rather slow, and may take a while until your physiognomy is recognized (although, to be fair, we didn’t exactly test it with the best webcam).

    While you’ll probably have fun morphing your face into Shrek, Legolas, Galadriel or Mona Lisa, the face doesn’t always fit naturally with the picture. You can zoom in or out and even edit the template, but that seems like a lot of work for something that you just want to full around with.

    The third feature is called Fun Frame, and you can use it to take pictures with, well, fun frames; these include mostly colorful drawings of animals, zodiac signs and various holidays. Finally, there’s the Monitor function which allows you to use your webcam for surveillance.

    While KeroSoft WebCam Creation isn’t perfect (and certainly not that creative), it’s still a fun program that may entertain you for a few hours and still prove itself useful in the long run.
